Elvis Presley: The Influence

Over the years many people over time have come out and said that Elvis Presley is the reason why they are doing what they are doing. Elvis living in a two bedroom shack with his father and mother and then growing up to be the world biggest American icon. Even 35 years after his death just his first name alone is remembered by all ages its hard to find but some teens now a days listen to Elvis on there iPod.

<!--[if !ppt]--><!--[endif]-->
Has a teenager he wasn’t very good at school. So his life was consumed with music, the artist that influenced him were Big Mama Thorton, Bill Monroe, Roy Brown, Clyde McPhatter, Big Joe Turner, Dean Martin and Fats domino. Because of these people Elvis Has blended a verity of styles to make his own.

Even before Elvis went on stage to do his concert the mood in the arena was so intense that people would say that the whole place was electrifying. people would go crazy over the band warming up on stage knowing that Elvis was going to come out on stage like a bat out of hell.

(Buddy Holly None of us could have made it without Elvis). Even when Elvis went in to the army many people started to copy his style of music and how he moved on stage. one artist at the time when Elvis was joining the army made fun of the Elvis wannabes and put it in his act. This man goes by the name of johnny cash. In 1954-1955 Johnny cash went to Elvis Presley concerts and was influenced by him so much that he quit his door to door salesman's job and with his to friends went to sun records and Cut a Record of there own and made it in to the spotlight.

 (John Lennon Nothing really affected me until I heard Elvis. If there hadn't been an Elvis, there wouldn't have been the Beatles.)Since the late 50s the Beatles before they where the Beatles would listen to Elvis on there record players and would watch him on the big screens. John Lennon was so inspired that he started his own ban called the Quarrymen then later Paul, George, Ringo joined and later became the the Beatles in 1960. In the mid 60s the Beatles traveled to Grace land the home of Elvis Presley and had a jam session. If this session was recorded it would have been one of the rearrest recordings ever.

In the 60s Elvis left the army and did one concert and continued making his movies till 1969 and 2 documentaries. Elvis was the highest payed actor of the 60s even thou his movies where all the same people still rushed in to see his movies. each movie made million or more in the first week or 2 of the film being in the theaters. Bob Dylan once said that "When I first heard Elvis' voice I just knew that I wasn't going to work for anybody; and nobody was going to be my boss. Hearing him for the first time was like busting out of jail". Elvis inspired him in the 60s.

As the late 60s came around and Elvis was becoming very unhappy with his Carrier and new image and grew very depressed with the movies he was making. At the same time the British invasion was hitting America heard with The rolling stones the Beatles the who and many more. One day in 1968 NBC asked Elvis to do a TV show. Elvis's manger Tom Parker just wanted to do a couple of Christmas songs for a million dollars but NBC and Elvis Didn't just want to do Christmas special. NBC producer pulled Elvis off to the side and talked to Elvis alone and got him to do the TV special call The 68 Come Back Special. this was Elvis's first on stage performance in 9 years Elvis. Not only did Elvis influence people to do what they want to do but the. The British invasion influenced Elvis to get back on track with his music career.

 (Cher The first concert I attended was an Elvis concert when I was eleven. Even at that age he made me realize the tremendous effect a performer could have on an audience.) In 1969 and in to the early 70s Elvis himself as a entertainer and a Performer starting from scratch in Las veges rocketing towards the world biggest superstars of the 70s. And dubbing the nickname The KING of Rock’n Roll. Elvis has not only influenced the music industry but he has also influenced fashion. With his flashy clothing and hair style on and off the stage people saw this as a new fashion and better way to dress even in the 50s, 60s and 70s. (Elton Jon It was Elvis that got me interested in music. I've been an Elvis fan since I was a kid.) In the 70s a comic by the name of Eddie Murphy, Eddie Murphy as said that Elvis is the reason he got in to being a comic.(this video does have some adult language)

In 1968 to early 1970 Elvis would wear extremely flashy two piece suits.But during shows Elvis would do a move or stand a current way and his paints would rip Elvis got the idea to wear a karate gee on stage. the reason for the gee is because it would breath better then his suits and it wouldn't rip. After awhile he changed his karate gee in for a jumpsuit. These jumpsuits where fitted with jewels a cape and a belt buckle all of this made Elvis look like a King.

The jump suits lasted all the way up until his death. The jumpsuit where a key part of Elvis's act. The idea behind the jumpsuit inspired ofter artistes to do the same. lThis led to many other artist to follow suit this influenced Neil diamond, Mick Jagger, The Who, James brown, Katy perry   Freddie Mercury, Britney Spears, Pink,   to wear jumpsuits on stage. At graceland there is an exhibit dedicated towerds how elvis influenced artistes of today.
